The Embassy - Part VI

Before I got a chance to react, that snake of man who had brought me here was already rushing back up the staircase. I stood there for a while, my feet nailed to the floor, left with no choice but to listen to the sound of his subsiding footsteps. I was standing in a long corridor, no more than two arm lengths wide, that ended in a plain-looking door. There was wood everywhere, from the walls to the floor boards, submerging the area in a stifling smell of resin and mold. My initial alarm at being left here by myself was quickly replaced by a relief that my fate seemed to no longer be in that man’s slithering hands. Having regained a bit of my courage, I finally ventured to take another step.
