Today is the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons. However, in spite of over fifty years of negotiations there are still around 14,000 nuclear weapons in the world. Update: Article has been updated as of 2 November 2020. The UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons has reached 50 ratifications. This will mean that it will become international law as of 22 January 2021.
