It was great to have the chance to work with you on this one, Robert! Doing the research for it was really fun...in an 'oh wow, this is a horrifying belief system' kind of way.
Wow, powerful and full of genuine thoughts relating to where indeed we might end up as a society and if or how we take pause to find out what is ahead. Great work here
knowing that this film means so much to you makes reading your article even more beautiful. Fortunately, there were/are and will always be critical thinking people
I agree with your other commenters. This was extremely well-written and researched--and thought-provoking. Peace and prosperity are the ultimate results of an advanced society, IMO. But obviously it's not that simple. How we define advancement has a way of twisting itself in ways we did not intend.
very thought-provoking, Robert. However, it's a pretty pessimistic view of our species. You may well be right: I often ruminate on the notion that in places where there is dire poverty or a war going on, I don't suppose many people are concerned about declaring their pronouns. But there is, surely, the possibility that, like in the Star Trek universe in which crime and war have been eradicated, we have more energy, resources, desire etc to explore new horizons? Or do you think not?
Strong piece! Looking forward to your guest post!
